What size arbor would you use to bore sight a .243win and a .270? Im tired of paying to have rifles boresighted and Im gonna buy a bore sighter and it comes with different arbors, I just need to make sure it has the right ones.

The Kit should list the sizes that it covers.

On another note...
You can pull the bolt and look through the bore and get it very close at 25 yards.

Put a round on paper at short range and adjust from there.

You probably won't waste many more rounds getting it zero'd than you would after adjusting from the Tool.

I use Dredds method. I always called it the redneck bore sight. I can usually get on paper at 50 yards using 2 larger targets.

Most of us use the method dredd described. There is a misconception that bore sighting is spot on, and that simply is not true. You still have to see where the point of impact is and adjust the scope to "walk" the point of impact until it is in agreement with your point of aim. It is better to spend your money on ammunition than it is to spend it on a bore sight. Stabilize your rifle the best you can with the cross hairs perfectly aimed at the bulls eye. Shoot, and then re-stabilize your rifle with the cross hairs perfectly aimed at the bulls eye, then carefully adjust the turrets without moving the rifle until the cross hairs are perfectly aimed at the bullet hole from that one shot you fired. You should be zeroed. You have to do this whether it is "bore sighted" or not, so why waste money on a bore sighting tool. Looking through the barrel will get you on the paper, and that is all you need in order to properly sight the rifle in.(always use a big target)

Pull bolt, bore sight at 25. Take it out and get couple 2 or three rounds hitting real close to each other(depending on scope height) about 2 inches low and then stretch it to 100 yards should put you in area of 1-2" high.

I bore sight by pulling the bolt, and looking at 100 yard paper. I skip the 25 yard, and 50 yard stuff. If I want a 100 yard zero, I bore sight at 100.

When you first start out use a big piece of clean white paper. The corrections are opposite. If the scope is looking high from where you want it, dial impact up. Work on it until bore and the scope are seeing the same thing. Fire one shot, and find where it lands. On very tight shooting rifle/ ammo, and a scope that tracks true, it can be done in two shots. Bore sight shot, measure where it lands, dial the corrections, shot twocan be exactly where you want it. Of course, that's with a reticle that is a ruler, such as a Mil or MOA scope.

Ive got one of the ones that is magnetic and just socks to the barrel. It works fairly well and is pretty cheap. The bolt method doesnt work as well on lever guns so I bought that one several years ago.

Funny how this usually isn't mentioned. I learned the hard way.
