Back many moons ago when myself and a partner had a hunting operation Colt Firearms was one of our clients. When they were getting ready to introduce the Colt Python Hunter Tom T. who was the marketing director wanted to take a Blackbuck with it. I took him to a place we had near Rocksprings and he actually did get one. Surprised the heck out of me. And I took the picture that was put into all the gun and hunting magazines.

Unti I read the blackbuck part I thought he had killed a hog.
On my phone I could barely see the animal in the pic but on my computer I can clearly see its a blackbuck lol

Did they give you a Python?!? No, but I did buy a 8" Colt Python at employee cost which if I remember right was around $185. I did not have enough money at the time to buy the entire Python Hunter kit or whatever it was called. Seemed like at the time I could have gotten it for around $350 or so. We had a very good relationship with Colt. Got to meet and hunt a lot of writers and editors you just read about. I guess things started changing at Colt and it slowly went away.

Cool pic and story Don. If you still have the Python, it's worth at least 10 times what you paid for it now.

That picture was from a Sept. 1980 Guns and Ammo. So it was probably hunted in July or August. We had the hunting rights on a place about 5 miles this side of Rocksprings. Had at that time probably the most BB of any place around. It had Angora goats, cows and Blackbuck and a few rattlesnakes. Not very many Deer. Was about 10,000 acres with most of the cedar cleared off it.

I haven't shot it in probably 20 years. In it's life probably not a box of shells through it. But it is one of those things you dig out once in a while and remember. You youngsters will get what I mean when you get older.

I have one in nickel. Bought it a long time ago at the FT Worth Gun Show for about $500 used. Never shoot it and thought about selling it. My Grandson heard about it and went ballistic. He's inheriting my guns.
