Looks like I'll have the opportunity next year to hunt off Ash Creek a few miles up from where it empties into Navarro Mills. Anyone know this area? Are the deer numbers here good?

That’s all public land. I will probably get a permit and be in that area as well. Ive fished ash creek all my life and have walked that creek a thousand times. Not a lot of deer but tons of pigs.

That's exactly what the landowner said. Kind of hard to believe the deer population isn't larger than it is.

I have duck hunted the whole area of Navarro mills and the wetlands for almost 10 years and I have seen a fair number of does while sitting but a few bucks only. About two years ago I saw several nice bucks while on the main lake near Pecan Point.

If you are on corp land the problem is that you cant use a feeder and not supposed to leave stands so that's your challenge. Deer are just not that thick in that area.

Good luck
