Since I started reloading I have been using the Lee hand trimmers. For the most part they work good... other than I think I will get carple tunnel from it. However many times I find it difficult to get the pilot in the neck of the sized casing, like the pilot is too large a diameter or the case is sized to much and the neck is too small a diameter?
I got a hornady case trimmer for Christmas and tried using it to trim some once fired Winchester 9MM brass last night and the 9mm pilot for the end of the cutter wouldn't fit into the cases, I forced it in and then almost didn't get it back out and was unable to use it. What is the trick here? Would it be taboo to get some fine sand paper and take a little off of the pilots?

I used a RCBS trimmer for a long time, only thing I did not like how it was not aligned from the case head anchor ( shellplate ) to the cutter. The insides of the case mouths would have a little etching ring on one side from being forced to rub the pilot while trimming. I had modified it with a drill later in the years to make it faster and easier on the hands. I would put that pilot in a drill and hone it down a little with some 220 sandpaper until it fits nicely in the case mouths. I am pretty sure someone will say " Go Giraud."

WOW, rough start, it shouldn't be this way. Maybe swap it for a Forrester, these will all give you Carpal Tunnel or Tendonitis in your "turning" thumb.
This is just my opinion but I really don't think its worth reloading 9mm ammo. Good factory is so cheap...
.45 is another thing.

^^And then some tripoli compound on a cotton buffing wheel for a nice chrome like finish. Be sure and hold the pilot with vise grips. I've put more than one pilot in the lathe a turned a few thousandths off.

.45 is another thing. Reloading for pure want to. It is something I enjoy. At this point I only have 14 brass I shot in my inlaws back yard the other day, but had fun last night setting up my dies with the "help" of my 3 year old next to me on the step stool and he enjoyed helping daddy put casings in the shell holder then pulling the handle etc. If I didn't enjoy reloading I probably wouldn't. I change my own oil too, I'm a hands on person.
