I was working way more than usual due to Hurricane Harvey recovery, so I only made it into the field a couple of times. No deer for me.

We’ve only filled 7 of 22 MLD tags.. and I filled two of those.. It’s been a really tough year, but many of our members always hold out for the big one and the season slips away before you know it.. I’m sure we’ll knock a few more doe down this weekend.

Didn't even make it out this year.....had a couple of opportunities but schedule and family issues prevailed......

That's odd. You always claim how great the hunting is on your 40 acres, how it hunts better than places 10x the size. & you being such an awesome hunter, yet didn't get a deer? Something doesn't add up........

Hunting got cancelled for me this year, a buddy and myself spent all of last year driving 2.5 hours to fill feeders, help manage the property and such only to have the land owner say only family can hunt this year. We weren't paying but the property manager had a deal set up with us. Really bummed, had bought a crossbow and climbing stand for bow season, bought a 50 cal muzzle loader for after regular season. So we're currently looking for a cheap lease
Go get in the woods

Haven't taken a WT in many a year. Been hunting for a spike or 2 year old Axis but haven't seen one yet. But the Axis season isn't over for me until it gets hot.

Max, odds are I have better deer than you claim to have and I have a lot of acres to hunt, probably more than you have and just hunt a 40 acre trap. We don't lease and haven't in years and the neighbors don't lease as well, so our deer have a chance to mature. And we don't worry our self sick about them retrieving a deer off of our property. I'm surprised your not guarding your fence lines.

I just assumed you were Larry Weishuhn the way you carry on.

My freezer is still full of venison ... I can't eat fast enough! So I passed on whitetail deer this year. I did shoot my first hog that didn't get up and run away afterwards. Ray's in Breckenridge turned her into the most delicious breakfast sausage I have ever eaten!

I haven’t pulled the trigger in years. Too busy “guiding” my kids. bow season next year is really my only chance. Too much fun hunting with my kids even if we don’t shoot one. Wouldn’t trade those times for anything.

Me.
Just didn't get enough time in. Hopefully the 2018-2019 season will give me more time to get out there.

I find myself spending more time / money at the lease these days than what I did years ago.....................and shoot less deer. It's done with a purpose. There was a time I went for the kill. Now I just go for the thrill...........of being out there. Success is not a bloody tailgate or a rack purposely positioned out of the back of the truck for others to see. I had one buck I was interested in taking and he did not cooperate. Many others did but they were not what I was looking for. I took one fat doe and a bunch of hogs. Could I have filled my tags? I could have been done in bow season. The deer lease provides so much more to me than notching out a tag from my hunting license. All of the time spent working on blinds / feeders, feeding, hours in the blind, cooking meals at camp, that quiet ride back after the evening hunt, etc. is the most therapeutic thing I know. My most memorable part of this season had to be the last weekend of regular season. I had both of my boys (25 and 20 years old) at the lease at the same time in probably 10 years. There wasn't a deer I could have shot to top that.

Soonersorlater, that's a great attitude. I feel the same way. Great to just be out there with friends and family.

I didnt make enough time to get my bow ready and practice enough this year. So my own fault and I still need to practice some more.

I haven't yet, but also had a lot of restraint this year allowing young bucks to walk. Have lots of doe to choose from, might take one this weekend... might not, it's duck hunting time.

Did not get on a white tail, but did manage to harvest a free range Red Deer Hind that wandered onto my lease.

Nope but by choice. I'm seeing more and more deer on my place each season. My son and nephew both got one on my place. I hunted probably more than most on here but just couldn't find the one and that is fine with me. I just really enjoy growing them and making my place better for the next season.
