The last 2 hunts I've been on couldn't have gone much better. The 8th had a good north wind and had the dekes moving well. No jerk rig necessary. Most everything we saw tried to land. Had a 2 man limit by 9 but unfortunately swung and missed on a giant bull sprig that will haunt me for a while. Ended up with 9 gaddies, 2 widgeon, and 1 sprig for the day.
The 14th had no wind to start. There weren't as many birds either so I'm glad I was shooting better. A pair of pintails flared. Everything else came right in to land but from which direction was anyone's guess. 2 stud bluewing drakes buzzed us at about 9 and didn't leave. I was using the jerk rig quite a bit until about 10 when the south wind started up a little. Finished at 10:30 on a pair of gaddies. We ended up with a 2 man limit consisting of 9 gadwall, 2 bluewing, and 1 shoveler.
There was no calling on either hunt. I am looking forward to closing out the season with a bang. Good luck to ya'll on your next hunt.
