Am I able to trim with my RCBS deburring tool? Could I put it on my drill and trim some with it? I think it will fit my drill.

I can’t afford a trimmer at this time and want to reload more but am running out of cases.

I doubt it'll cut very much. It is just for deburring, after-all. Plus, how would you cut to a set length?

I’m new to this. I just figured I could get close enough with checking every so often. I only reload 20 at a time.

I just now was looking into the lee case trimmer and lock stud. And the gauge for calibers I need. I could afford those.

Any of y’all use that?

Have several of the lee trimmers they work well and are easy to use.

What are you loading? I only trim my 270 and similar cases every other or every third firing.

I’m loading 243 and 7mm. Some of my 243 are long now and that’s what I mainly shoot.

For the beginning loader, the little LEE trimmers are nice.
Pretty easy to use and fairly fool proof and trim to SAMMI spec length with no adjustments to mess up.
Be sure to deburr after you trim.

Have you measured your cases to see if they even need trimming?

My guess is they have not stretched enough to need it, so your deburring tool should be fine to "clean up" your necks.

Then just get a nylon bore brush and run it in and out of neck to make sure they are clean and clear of any brass particles. .

Yes. I measured them. I have been neck sizing them a few times already. Now I full length sized them and they are too long.

I still use Lee trimmers. They work fine. Some of these things are how much you reload. If you reload a lot, you may want to move to something that gives your more efficiency. You can get very accurate ammunition using basic reloading equipment.

Can I use a pipe cleaner to clean them out? I don’t have a nylon bore brush. Or should I add that to what I’m getting?

If you have a bore brush to clean your barrel with, you can use that.
The cleaning rod makes a handy handle too.

It would be good to get a set of nylon bore brushes.

You can get a used trimmer on ebay for about $40. The deburr tool won't cut worth a crap but it will probably heat the neck to high heavens. I got a used Redding and while I'm not overly impressed by it. It trims after it's set right.

Lee trimmer will handle your needs for long time. Anything else would be over kill at this stage.

Thanks for the help. I reloaded some 7mm 140gr Etip today. Had fun:) took forever to load 20. They were once shot brass and were good oal. I tried to be as exact as I could be. The powder was to the 10th of a grain. I weighed my leads to match them to be 140 and 140.1 grains.

I couldn’t get the lengths exact. They were off by a few thousandths. Is it possible to get them all an exact oal? How is that done?

Do you have a good reloading manual? If not get one or borrow one and start doing some studying. This will help answer some of your questions and give you
a reference point to refer to in the future. JMO

I agree. get a manual (two or three is even better) if you don't have one already, and read it. When you're starting out, you have no idea what it is you do not know...and that's not good.

I have the Lyman 49th reloading manual. It’s just so much to read.

I also have one from my father in law. He used to reload years ago. I usually ask him questions.

Look into Little Crow Gunworks trimmer. It's called the Worlds Finest Trimmer. It's the best trimmer I've ever used.

I don’t see how it is different than the lee trimmer. I see it’s different but seems the same as easy. How’s it better than the lee trimmer?

Nevermind. I see it now. It’s more precise and easier to use. Maybe in a few years though due to price.

I would get a lee case trimmer, it is a great inexpensive tool!
