Ok I have had my savage wood stock 14 classic for 3 or 4 years now and I'm tired of the sticker on the side of the stock. How do I get that dang thing off without messing up the wood? Ive tried peeling it up and ended up just leaving it alone because I didn't want to mar the finish.

goof off or goo gone can't remember the name exactly. That should take it off easily. Shouldn't hurt the wood, but don't quote me on it.

You might heat it with a hairdryer and peel it off.

In all seriousness, I don't think I've ever seen a sticker that WD-40 wouldn't get off.

So with the baby oil/wd-40 you just put it around the edges and it will start to come up? Will give the baby oil a try first have a bottle someone gave us when the first was born and we never opened it.
Thanks all.

But how will everyone know you shoot a savage? They don't need to know. I miss the day when I bought my older rifles and they just came with a little tag tied through the trigger guard.

Thanks all. redchevy, just saturate the entire sticker with the baby oil, making a "dam" around the sticker so it doesn't get all over everything, then wait a few minutes and rub the sticker with your index finger. If it doesn't begin to come off, coat again and let it sit for a half hour or so.

In all seriousness, I don't think I've ever seen a sticker that WD-40 wouldn't get off. Yep. Rubbing alcohol works great as well on most sticky adhesives.

I got my dad's 11-87 that had camo tape on it for at least 30 years. Used Goof Off on the wood and metal with no ill effects.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.
