I'd like to treat my dad to an upland bird hunt this year. Primary target is pheasant, but would certainly not argue if quail or other upland birds just happened to be involved too.

Considerations:
- We will both be flying, as I live in TX and he is in MD
- Wild birds, not pen raised
- Nice lodging, would like to eat well and drink good whiskey in the evenings
- Would like to avoid the really super cold, blowing snow type months

I understand SD is the mecca, and that NE is supposed to be great too. Heard good things about KS and eastern CO but we are not driving so not as much on our radar.
