My son hasn't been able to go hunting this season because he has had a lot going on. So I extended an invitation to him, and told him I would wait for him to get off of work. He accepted. I told him that this is his hunt and I wouldn't pull the trigger unless it was a big boy. We hunt two blinds, so I gave him his choice. First sit we saw nothing at all. He started mocking me for telling him that the "deer population has exploded". I told him 30 min from sundown is go time, and how long shadows are when they come out. Sure enough little before 6 I see a doe and I text him, he looks at my feeder and says it's not a doe it's a buck. By that time I look back up and see a buck trailing her. I don't get excited. That is until he turns he's head sideways. At that point I was like, son I know this is your hunt, but that's a big boy, it's the second to the last day of the season, five minutes left of sun, and he's trailing a doe,and she's not headed in you direction. All that was said in my head of course. So I get my rifle up and wait for them to stand still. The doe stops, he puts his nose in her stuff, and I let it fly.

I felt a little guilty, because I did the same thing to my dad. In the beginning of the season, but It's not my fault they pick the wrong blind right? Plus my dad told me to take the shot when we went. I still feel like I "buck blocked" them.

Care to guess age? I'm gonna pull the jaw tonight.

A little over 21 inch spread.

Good looking buck, but impossible to tell and age by just the head and the back of him laying down.

He looks older though for sure. Nice Romanized nose and thick antlers.

He'd look a lot better if he wasn't resting on that hideous cooler.

It's not how you fall, It's how you get up.

SMH.....yous guys, and you too redchevy?

Always a good time with that kid. Here's a text convo between a sleep deprived father , and son. You might find it funny.

Oh by the way my son is 22 years old, and that conversation was all tongue in cheek. I probably should of mention that.
