All I saw was a couple of doe, and it was after dark
I was hog hunting with my NV and they came walking in, one just stood there staring at the "red glow" lol

Saw a couple of spikes that I could have harvested, but waited on a good one that never showed.

I take offense to that, as that certainly was not the issue with me.

mine was lack of motivation to go sit in the woods, pure and simple.

I actually killed a deer this year, so technically I can’t participate.

But most years I don’t. I am a watcher more than a shooter, this I admit. I’m still hunting though. Hard. I’m just hunting differently than I used to. I don’t define hunting as having to kill one anymore.

Unless one steps out in the next hour or so I will not have shot a deer for the first time in forever.
I have had many easy opportunities to take a couple of nice bucks that would have netted me 4 cases of beer grin I decided this year I was not going to shoot anything but a really big buck during the regular season, if that did not happen I would shoot a spike or a big fat single doe during the extended doe/spike season.

Well no spikes have shown up and even though I have seen plenty of does, the only plump ones had kids with them and the single does were young and lean so I passed.

Great year saw a lot of bucks and does up close would have been nice to get the big one or a chubby girl, I hunted hard it just did not happen, maybe thats why they call it hunting nidea

I didn't pull the trigger either. Hunted plenty, passed on several decent deer, but I come to enjoy watching other people pull the trigger. My daughter killed a decent buck on our home place, my son shot a doe, and I gave my buddy the opportunity to shoot a 7pt cull deer.

The one buck I should have shot I passed to try and let my boy take him. Saw the deer 3 out of the next 4 hunts with only one opportunity to shoot. Just couldn't get it done. We had to switch chairs ect... and by that time he didn't present a good shot. We have two more weeks for him to try and take him. Hopefully we get it done.

Not this year, saw some young bucks but nothing I wanted to shoot. had them on camera but it just did not work out. Can't remember the last time I failed to get a buck. it was good times anyway.

Nothing here, brother in law sold most of his land and I had limited time. Only went and shot ducks with my son since that is within an hour of the house. I know how Stub loves his duck hunters. up

I don't get that line of thinking at all. Never getting a shot at the bull of the woods because you shot him when he was a 2 year old (as my old man would say) pencil d^ck lol.

I shot a doe last weekend will try to get at least another doe. Still looking for a few no brow deer that have disappeared. Passed on a 3-4 year old 140's 12 and a 120's 11 this weekend because they will be a lot more next year.

I did shoot a doe, but now that my kids are in the deer shooting age range I shoot a lot less.

I had 2 kids shoot deer, including my son who shot his first nice mature buck.

I would have killed one very nice, old deer if my son wasn't with me. I was letting him shoot, and he just can't execute as quickly as I would have. That big ol' boy didn't just give us long. But I'd rather invest in my kids having fun at this stage and just shoot when/if I can. I've hunted many years before this stage of life, and I'll hunt plenty after.

I will kill three before the end of February.. just have not felt the need so far. Besides that, it has been a weird year. I know there are a lot of deer in our area but not much moving

I passed on a spike and a bunch of does on Thanksgiving weekend - I didn't have any desire or need for the meat. When i got in from my last hunt of that weekend, my FIL mentioned that he wanted a deer for snack sticks and would pay for it. Too late.

That said, I usually hunt a place that extends the season until the end of Feb and needs does killed. I'll try to get one then.

My son has not killed one yet. He gets one last shot this weekend. Late youth season.

No deer this year. I didn't log enough time. I did more prep work than hunting, but the family stuff on the weekends was worth it. Maybe next season.

The deer I did see were spikes or small racks. I only saw one that was legal, I think, but it darted across an opening too quickly. There were deer out there that would have been nice that showed up on cameras. The large bucks were nocturnal based upon the photos.
