Those older PSTs had some issues every once in a while, but if you got one that did Vortex will make it right. I don't think I've ever heard of a problem with either the Razor G2, or the AMG. Most of the warranty usage that people hear about is on $100 scopes. Buy a cheap scope, get a cheap scope.

I have only heard good things about the Razors.
I don’t consider $1,000 scope a cheap scope. I have no doubt Vortex will fix or replace mine. The problem is that when I’m at 9,000’, dragging my rig through the hell holes I hunt, it will always be in the back of my mind that something may have rattled loose inside my scope that could cause me to miss a bull I’ve worked very hard to get a shot at.
A great warranty is not as important to me as never needing one.

Which is why I don’t use Vortex scopes. Other than the Razor line they break too much and to my eyes aren’t as good in low light as other comparably priced scopes. And Razors, which I think are excellent scopes seem designed as a rule wth target shooting in mind, not hunting.
Don’t roll those bloodshot eyes at me.

The fact that so many people can testify to their warranty being so outstanding says a lot about more than just their warranty. In the field, I depend a whole lot more on my scope not failing than I do a warranty. My thoughts exactly. I've always wondered about the logic behind the "best warranty in the business" logic that most folks throw out there when they're trying to justify how they didn't spend enough money to buy the right tool for the job. I wasted my dollars for a lot of years trying to find the unicorn scope that worked perfectly and didn't break the bank. I could have just bought one or two Nightforces from the get-go and been way less money than what I spent on the 3-4 sub-$1000 scopes that didn't get the job done.

Vortex customer service called this afternoon. It was just the other day that I sent the scope to them. Really nice fellow, and he gave me the particulars on what needed to be fixed and that it was now fixed. And he suggested that I not tighten the scope rings to the max, saying (if I remember correctly) that 18 inch pounds was their recommendation, and that Leupold-made rings for the Ruger Hawkeye was his recommendation. I just ordered a torque wrench.
