Looking at getting a custom rifle in 6.5 creedmore with 24" barrel....What would be a good scope in the maybe 5-800 dollar range....Will be mostly for hunting but would like to do some target shooting eventually maybe out to 5-700 yards....

Exactly my first thought, but aren’t they a bit higher than his quoted price? He should still go that route, regardless.

I have zero reservations about buying used scopes that are built by companies that have a no B.S. warranty. Burris is one of those companies, at least with the XTR II.

3x the XTR II, if you watch Midway they will have them some models on sale for 799 so right at top of budget. Or as JG said used is an option too. They are big scopes, if you are building a light 6.5 might not be best fit IMO from a size perspective.

3-15X 4-20X
Decide how low you want magnification to go. 15X will go 700 yards, no problem

I snagged a very lightly used XTR II 3-15x in an ADM mount for $600. Put it in a Badger unimount and mounted on my 6.5 creed AR...hard to beat for the money.

Based on your description either would do, if you spend more time 500+ yards go bigger. SMR reticle.

I took my SWFA 16x42 fixed power out to 800 on Jason's range without any issues. 15x is plenty for 700 yards. On the XTR II, I'd get the 4-20 if you had the choice. But if I found a deal on the 3-15, I wouldn't pass it up. Both are good options.
I've seen some SWFA 5-20 HD non-illuminated models go for $850-$900 on snipershide. I know you said your budget was up to $800, but that's a stupid optic for the price. Great glass, great build quality, made in Japan, great warranty, Texas company.
SWFA 3-15 is another decent option if you find one used towards the bottom end of your budget, but the XTR II is a decent step up in terms of optical quality and the SWFA 5-20 HD is a step up from the XTR II.
Lots of good choices.
