My buddy is on a Ranch near Windthorst?Seymour. His son shot a nice buck opening weekend but since then the bucks are only showing up at night on the game cams. There are piles of corn underneath the feeders, They throw twice a day for 5 sec.

There seems to be a normal amount of deer on the ranch. My buddy shot his buck while walking back to the truck almost at dark, I assume the buck was starting his nighttime movement.

Last week same thing, I'm going out there Monday or Tuesday to hunt doe and spike, coyote, (there are allot of coyote BTW)

Any thoughts? any others hunt out that way?

Stop hunting feeders if it’s not working. Doing the same thing with the same results and expecting something different is just crazy.

Skip the feeders! We hunt in Scurry County, north of Snyder. We took two good mature bucks this year. Neither will of which showed up at feeders. We are surrounded by large cotton fields, early on, before it's harvested. Great opportunity to find mature bucks bedded or eating the cotton seed. I hunted this place for several years, driving right past 100's of acres of cotton, not realizing I was passing up some of our best opportunities.
One of the Bucks we took was in the middle of the cotton field. I also passed up a shot at a good mature 10 pointer, early in the season. He was following a doe, in the middle of the Colton field. There were 12-15 deer in the cotton, feeding. It was almost dark and he was over 350 yards (checked with a reliable rangefinder). I passed up the shot, as I wasn't comfortable with it.
We have several stands with feeders and cameras. Haven't seen this buck once on a camera. He's been seen twice while one of us was driving in or out. Never in the vicinity of a feeder, though.
I hunt feeders less and less, here the last few years. For me personally, I have been learning to "hunt", again. Good luck, I lived a little bit south of Windthorst, for a while, from 02 to 04. I have seen several good deer in that area. My best buck ever came from there.

They ve been mostly nocturnal for me for a while

Except during rut , they will come out in the day

They drained 600 lbs of protein in one week
when the cold front hit late December

Bucks does fawns. ..... they took turn
Starting at 8pm til 5 am

Going to have to put them on a diet

I drive 1500-2500 miles a week.....all hours of the day and night....lots of east Texas back roads....been seeing deer (and hogs) a lot more in the past couple of weeks.

The acorn crop is about gone and the colder weather really has them moving a lot more....seeing animals morning, midday, evening and night.....

Thanks everyone

I agree on getting away from feeders, finding a trail, corning the funnel of the trails and sit in brush wait.

Were are off Loftin Road, near Texag deer farm. Wish a couple would escape and find our ranch.

I may have an opportunity to get on this lease, its nice, only 5 hunters, 1500 acres.
