WHo knows? But the same question is how did he ge the blue patch just like a pintail? Again, who knows. If you ever seen ducks making new ducks, you would think it had 5 different fathers.

Hmmm, since it only has blue on the sides of the bill (not the whole thing) and there are no larger white patches in the speculum, there is a very good chance it could actually be Pintail X GWT. It would explain the very slight differences in wing patches since pintail have very similar ones.  Look at my sig pic for comparison. It's a wigeon x green wing. A friend of mine shot a pintail x green wing and it looked quite a bit different. At first glance I thought so too. THat blue on the bill does not go over the top, at least I don't think so anyway. That would give a grand clue in the pintail direction. Nope it is exactly like a sprig. And the speculum looks more like a sprig, too. Not sure why the head wouldn't be darker tho, that part is throwing me off and definitely seems more wigeon.

Go google wigeon/teal hybrid and look at pictures. Plenty of them dont have solid blue beaks either.
