I like to keep things as simple as possible. I have a SWFA 3-15X42 sfp, this scope works great for me. Mil quad reticle, mil adjustments. Looking for a new scope that has a reticle as close to a mil quad as there is. What do you all think will work? Will be target shooting, hunting. Like the 3-15 range on the scopes. Like sfp. Like to keep under $600

Buddy at work has the Nikon Black X1000, which he really likes and seems to be getting excellent reviews. Fits all of your requirements. I have not looked through it. I think it's around $500.
Vortex Viper HS-T 4-16x44 is also a fit. Gen 1 Viper PST 4-16x50 as well (SFP version). All SFP with simple reticles and in that same mag range. PST Gen 2 doesn't have a reticle remotely similar to the mil quad.
Burris XTR II 3-15 with G2B reticle is a nice scope as well, but you'd have to buy used to get near your price range and it's only offered in FFP.

That Nikon has terrible turrets, pst 1 glass sucks I know the glass on the PST1 6-24 was pretty lackluster, but was the 4-16 bad too? I have only looked through the 6-24. Do you know of anything that fits all the requirements with good glass and good turrets?

Brad, I found another 3-15 on another site but somebody snatched it up before I could get it.

For quite a long time the Vortex Viper pst Glass was pretty good until somebody said that it wasn’t good. Now everybody says it’s no good. Fact is, it ain’t bad, and certainly not as bad as folks now like to say. Might not be great for 1000 yard shooting, but the two I have (4-16 and 6-24) work just fine. I was pig hunting last night and saw no pigs, but I did have a look at the feeder before I left, and I did the looking through the 4-16. It was dark enough that if a pig had been under the feeder, I wouldn’t have been able to see it with the naked eye, but I could watch a corn stealing bunny rabbit for a bit.
I shoot a good number of coyotes and hogs in really dim light conditions and haven’t felt that I needed a brighter scope - or i’d buy a brighter scope.
Of course, if I was trying to hit steel at 1000 yards, I might be a bit more critical of the pst gen 1.

Of course, if I was trying to hit steel at 1000 yards, I might be a bit more critical of the pst gen 1. Expectations for optics have certainly changed over the years. I just picked up a Vortex Diamondback 4-12x40 AO for my 10/22, and I believe those were released about 6-8 years ago. The center clarity is quite good, but the edge clarity leaves something to be desired. It was a $300 scope when new (MSRP $349). The Nikon Prostaff I got for $100 on black Friday had really good edge to edge clarity. Optics have just progressed in recent years to where mediocre center clarity or bad edge clarity don't have to be accepted as the norm anymore. Even low end scopes have glass as good or better than what mid-level scopes had just a few years ago. I don't know what these optics manufacturers are doing to get so much performance for so much less money than it used to cost, but it sure is good for all of us. Jeff - I would give that Midas some serious consideration.

If I end up going ffp I'll probably go with another swfa, I like the mil quad reticle.

Optics are the easy part. Chinese glass is very good nowadays. Building them tough and reliable is lots harder to do at bargain basement prices. If they're cheap (inexpensive) it's got Chinese written all over it, and I wouldn't touch a Chinese riflescope with a 10 foot pole.

RR, that looks like a good scope for the hunting aspect but for target beyond 500 I think I may need a little more mag power. I’m glad you posted that site up, been looking for it.
