Popped her with my .223 at about 100 yards. This was at my friend's place in Tarrant county. They have a horse boarding operation and they are tired of the hogs tearing things up. This was right after sunup. I just waited in my truck by the barn. I walked through the barn and about 30 yards into the field, shot off my monopod. Hit her in the neck and she dropped. Couldn't hit any of the littler ones who scattered.

These are bold. I shot a smaller one from inside the barn a week before this. This Tuesday I hit a bigger boar who was just outside the barn. Saw him and several others from the other side of the property right at dusk and walked over, using horse trailers for cover. Didn't get a pic and left him to be dumped the next day. My freezer is full, and I wasn't sure a 200 pound boar would taste good anyway. There will be more.

Had this one made into sausage, and wasn't too happy with the result. Next time I'll make my own. Starting to do that.

Agreed. I left a rifle with my friend. I'll continue to go out and when I can, and I'll take a friend next time. Deer season got in the way.

I've shot a few with that coloration, but mostly the ones where I hunt are black or reddish brown. They all taste the same. chef
