Hey all, is there anyone in Dallas who can help me catch a raccoon? There is one that has gotten two of my chickens and I'd like for it to stop.
Would it be worth it for me to get a trap, or better to borrow one from someone?
Thanks y'all.

Buy a dukes dog proof trap. You may need it in the future as well.

When we lived in Houston, we had coons that were eating our outdoor cat food and beating up the cats. I found a good trap and caught a bunch of them and relocated them.

Get a good pellet gun and head shoot them! Or you can get a dukes or a cage trap.
It's not how you fall, It's how you get up.

I've got the pellet gun, but the raccoon has shown up on my camera anywhere between 1 AM and 6 AM. I just need to decide if it's worth buying a trap or giving up some sleep.

Dukes Dog Proof traps are inexpensive, easy to set, and when you catch one, head shoot him with your pellet gun and then bury him in the garden. There's rarely just one 'coon; they are present in bunches, so it's well worth your money to get yourself a Dukes. Use mini-marshmellows for bait and you won't catch any non-targeted species, like skunks!!

Yep, Dukes Dog Proof - you can get one delivered off of ebay for under 15.00. Make sure to tie the chain to something heavy or your trap will go bye-bye! I have caught stuff I don't want to catch with mini-marshmellows so now mostly use deer corn.
Had one coon that went crazy over my bird feeders filled with sunflower seeds. Loaded the Dukes with sunflower seeds and finished him off with 22LR.
If you are close by, you can put a cowbell on the chain so they let you know they are waiting for you.
