Nothing wrong with brakes on hunting rifles. If it aint suppressed you need hearing protection anyway. I keep plugs around my neck when carrying my 7 Rem Mag. Pop them in, make a shot.
Adding a brake, reduces recoil, and makes it more pleasant to shoot. If it's more pleasant to shoot a person will practice with it more.

Fireman, I probably won't use a brake unless I get a deal on it or find it truly unmanageable recoil wise (which I doubt) as I've always rolled with recoil as opposed to fighting it.
Now, for the fine folks on here. What factory ammo for a nilgai/elk/deer (in that order). Want one round to sight it in and forget about it. Thinking 180gr partions and/or accubonds. But would step up to 200gr if needed. Thoughts?

BTW, good price on the rifle...you will like it.
I was wrong...on anything technical. Fitz............. is right, ya know............

I only shoot 165-168 gr through my Sako 300wsm and it knocks down everything from Bison to elk. Spouse loads 180 accubonds and they work awesomely also. Recoil??? Not an issue.
