Looking to blast off to Breckenridge for a final attempt. Has anyone traveled that direction and how are the roads and routes to avoid today?

Roads are bad. That's per my mother in law that works for TXDOT.

Would that include 180 heading west?

Further you go West of Dallas, the worse it gets, and it's not going to get better for a couple days. Wouldn't recommend it.

I'm sure crossing the Brazos river and trying to go up Wynn Mountain east of Palo Pinto will be fun.

180 from Parker county west is basically a solid sheet of ice.
They had a portion of it closed earlier today

Left Eliasville to head home this morning, pretty much ice all the way into Graham and started clearing up after Bryson on 380. Doable just keep the speed reasonable.

Sheet ice in the Abilene area, it will be the same for most every thing for miles in every direction.

Anyone in the Hill Country (Kerville area) that can give an update on road conditions. Planning to head out in the AM from Houston but the reports of ice a little further north is giving me second thoughts...

Was fine along I-10. North of 10 especially north of Junction near Eden to San Angelo was bad bad.

I made it out to my place N of Mineral Wells on New Year's Eve, but given the carnage I passed on the way there (including an upside down pickup) I waited 2 days before heading to Breckenridge. Thanks for everyone's updates.
