While at SCi last week I talked to Proof Research about their barrels and inquired more about what they are seeing & hearing regarding the 6.5 PRC. They echoed nothing but praise for it and sent me over to Joe Thielen, Hornadys guru on the 6.5PRC development. We chatted for a while regarding it. Main take home points, 1) Optimum action is either in a medium or long action to avoid feeding issues. Short actions just don’t work very well. 2) Optimum, note I am not saying only, but optimum ballistics are out of a 24 inch barrel with a 1:8 twist. Gonna wait a little while longer for more time to pass and data/reviews to come out but I think I might really need this.
