I learned to fill my feeders with Indian corn. The deer like it better and stay longer.

An old buck carrying a lot of fat after the rut, and who is good eating, likely was past breeding age. Sounds like the young studs had beat him up pretty good.

No... but I sometimes like the discussions except for the 'what will he score'. To each his own trophy definition as long as it is in-line with your property/lease/group/owner's etc. management plan/guidelines.

No change for me in how I hunt. Of course I did learn from ya’ll that I needed a 264 caliber rifle and a turreted scope, which didn’t change much of anything - though I like the turrets. And I have that Tikka, which I probably wouldn’t have otherwise.
The major factor in any changes in how I hunt is age. I don’t climb trees anymore. I don’t hunt in sleet or snow these days. I don’t/can’t drag a dead deer 1000 yards in deep mud anymore. I don’t track as well as I once did. I used to say I could track a lizard across dry rocks, which was BS but sounded good. I don’t even say that anymore. But, I still love to hunt, and I have a grandson that loves it like I do. And another grandson that is showing interest in hunting.

And it bothers you less knowing there are others who feel the same way.
