Unrelated, but shows Vancouver's mindset - They have government funded and staffed safe houses, with free needles provided, for addicts to shoot up in.
It's good to be an outfitter in Alberta or Saskatchewan...for now.

saw that an it irked me......BC was next on our trip list.
I had no intention of shooting a Grizzly ever in my life but now I have a mindset to take one because I may not be able to in the future
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Don't care what Canada does. Don't care what Canada does. That is a very small minded way of looking at it This isn't about what Canada is doing its a mindset movement that is taking root across the world. Same liberal mindset in B.C also lives here in Austin, TX. Don't think similar things aren't taking place here in the U.S. Not Everyone is content with hunting deer and pigs in their backyard, this is a serious issue that is very concerning.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Very concerning indeed. Was discussed a lot while I was up there for 3 weeks.
Hunters had little to do with it, simply a combination of a very liberal provincial government and populace almost all concentrated in Vancouver. No science, no reason other than many didn’t like the idea of killing a capstone symbol animal.
The conservation/F&W dept has been infiltrated by non/antis that don’t understand or care about hunters’ roles in conservation.
Same basic thing happened with CA mountain lion ban.
What’s ironic is some other species (like Stone’s sheep) have an increasingly inordinate amount of pressure on their populations - and almost all efforts to address it have been rebuffed by resident hunters. When their populations get low enough, Vancouver will take notice and probably ban hunting for many more animals.
Sadly, it’s kind of a perfect storm. National government is very liberal too. I’m pretty sure that if it weren’t for the sympathy rank-and-file Canadians have for the First Nations peoples, a lot more hunting bans would have already been in place. (I realize this ban has little/no effect on them, but IMO the fact that they are hunters has slowed down the pressure on hunting bans as a whole. I hope it won’t pick up steam as a result of this one.)
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

CO is getting same problems Cali has, huge bear explosion. CO lost it’s spring bear season and hounds hunting.
We have to stick together and continue educating Non hunters and introducing new hunters as often as possible. All differences a side.

I agree. We need to unite and put our differences aside.

Agree 100%. I think you also agree that we need to be more aware of how we present ourselves as hunters. You and I have differences on what that means - but I’m quite certain that if we both sat down and took an “Agree/Don’t Agree” test with 100 questions on this topic that we would probably answer 95 of them the same.
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

Don't care what Canada does. Been to BC several times, people are Like TX. It’s become the last home of real cowboys Prime lower 48 example 20 years ago Colorado was god and guns country. Even the Hippy revolution was pro hunting. Now a days CO Resident lic sales equals $6mil and NR equals $48mil. NR didn’t close their spring bear season. NR don’t determine state policy residents do. CO fish and game is scrambling because more hunters are moving out then in. You think TX will never change... but look at the urban voting numbers in Dallas, Austin, San Antonio and houston.

It's a shame but not surprising, they are more concerned with social programs. I work with a lot of Canadians and spent 2 weeks at our headquarters in Vancouver last month. They are very liberal and hunting is way down on their priority list.

Never disagreed with that, As long as we have went round and round it’s always been the last 5%. Today if we lose hunting it will be because Anti’s how found a way to turn perception around of the General non-hunting public based on hunters vocal differences. Easy examples are Hound hunting(bears/lions), baiting and now just out right ban based on hunters differences.

I try to be an optimist, but Canada is like CA writ large. Liberal population centers in Vancouver/Toronto/Montreal with the rest of the nation’s rural agricultural and hunting population scattered over a vast area.
For example, the Yukon is huge - but has less than 30,000 people. How long will they be allowed to call the shots in their province?
If you want to hunt Canada, I suggest you go as soon as you can.

Austin is a good example of screwed laws getting passed because of the liberals that have moved in from Ca., and the low voter turn out in elections that are held other than the Nov. ballots
hold on Newt, we got a runaway

What a shame.
Here again, people that are un-educated about a topic are the ones writing policy.

I would imagine as well that most of the $$ and organizations behind pushing the ban aren't solely based in BC and are probably involved in some of the anti stuff here in the U.S., so I don't see how their having any success is irrelevant. Just like any body else, you let them get a little bit of a headwind and they are going to get more aggressive
