It's been tough. We scout and find birds, set up and they never show, or we watch a few hundred land somewhere else. So we find where they're going and setup, and again they never show or go somewhere completely different. The birds we do get to work are very very picky. We've shot a couple but nothing special. We got froze out last night and our attempt to hunt this morning was a failure with 2 inches of ice. Scouted miles of river the past few days also with no luck. We're currently heading south looking for more birds. It's been a tough hunt, but we haven't given up yet. Definitely not the number of birds here like last time. Last time I was finding a thousands stacked in places, now it's 50-100 at most.

That’s happen to me a few times this season. Or all the birds get there before legal and land in the next cove over.

Well after hours of scouting today on multiple public lands, we've decided to head to Texas and wing it in the morning. Just couldn't find birds anywhere today. At least if we get skunked tomorrow the drive home will be a lot shorter if were already in Texas.

Sounds like my trip to Kansas last season. We hunted two mornings and put almost 500 miles in an afternoon looking for them. Next morning we headed home...sometimes they just aren't there.

Have a safe trip back.

So whats your opinion on the birds...1-they still in Kansas and you just didn't find them..2- they north of Kan..3- they south of Kan?

I've seen Kansas before In peak migration numbers and they just weren't there. Probably even less now that's it's all frozen

The refuges have a few in the little open water that's left. But nothing like I saw the last two years.
