What was talked about or agreed upon before the hunt?

Then I would think you would still pay the management fee. That's why the guide was with you. To place you on the correct deer.

It's his responsibility to do his job. If a mechanic screws up your truck, it's on him.
If you want some friendly advice, get a haircut and take a bath. You wouldn't get hassled so much.

Im Guessing you went on a management hunt and were told to shoot a certain "management" deer. After it was shot it ended up scoring what they said was a trophy buck andcwanted to charge the trophy fee or so many dollars per inch?
You mind telling us the story?

I asked about shooting a management "$2000" deer before I came to hunt , as stated above both outfitter and guide knew what I was looking for. Anyways deer scores 141" and I'm told by guide owner says I'm still responsible by text .he seen the deer and left to guide someone with deeper pockets then me shooting multiple bucks . Was told I owed $3500 didn't even have that on me , guide said he would "take care of the rest " bullshat . Drove 22 hours for this crap!

Wtf is the point of the guide if they tell you to shoot X deer as a management deer then want to charge you for a more expensive deer because they can't judge well?

The way my buddy works it on his place always favors the hunter. If they estimate low, you only pay for what they estimated it to be. If they estimate high, you only pay for what the deer actually measures. The price is agreed upon in advance based on what he believes the deer to score and he doesn't charge the hunter for his misstep.

I would think the guide would be able to recognize the "shooters" on the ranch.

I’ve always wondered about this. I know what’s right, but I don’t know how the guide feels about it. I always figured I would clear things up, before booking a hunt, and not book if they expect me to be responsible for it. If I ever book a hunt like that, and they go back on their word, it won’t matter. They’re going to eat it, either way.
