Due to the popularity of H4350 and my inability to find it anywhere on the shelves, what is the next best powder to try? I've seen people using everything from IMR 4350, superformance to RL-17. I'm thinking IMR 4350 is my best bet, but wanted to see if y'all had any suggestions.

I try to stick with temp stable powders. I'd look at imr 4451, varget and rl16.

IMR-4451 is the next one I will be going to. And that will happen in the very near future.

There are several good powders for substituting H4350. In no order of preference. IMR 4451 is an almost exact burn rate of 4350, and has the copper fouling reducer built into. It's a good one to use. IMR 4350 would also be good. R17 would also work, but it is VERY temp sensitive, and I do not load with this powder because of this. R17 is a great powder to hot rod your ammo, if you shoot it in the same temps as when you worked up the load in. I'm not a fan of double base powders for this reason. It keeps you out of trouble with pressures.

IMR 4451
IMR 4350
R16
Alliant 2000MR
H414 (ball powder)
Alliant 4000MR (if you have a longer barrel)

Awesome info as always. Hadn't even looked at 4451, but I will check that out.

I predict a shortage of 4451 coming. eeks333

Hybrid 100V is a double base powder, so you will get great speeds out of it. Just don't shoot your max load you shot in the winter time during the summer. It would be a powder you can use in the CM for sure. I ran some of this powder when it first came out in the SnipersHide 260 Rem builds we did to get the speeds up some. You will get an increase over 4350, but it's a little temp unstable. I won't use it for this reason.
