I'm planning another build and considering contours between Bartlein 2b and 3, not 3b. Have any of y'all thread 1/2" on a thinner barrel and been ok with a direct thread suppressor (omega)?

What caliber, Patrick? I have a 223 can for 223's on AR's and 223 bolt guns that is threaded 1/2". It works fine. For a larger caliber, a 1/2" threading can get the barrel a little thin.

I have a Griffin Sportsman DT on a 20” Voere .30-06 bolt gun. Everything works as expected.

My Creedmoor is a 1/2" thread with QD YHM suppressor that weighs 28z and I've had zero problems.

Wow, really! That's only .064" of metal between the barrel and threading. I would think that would be way too little metal to support the suppressor and still stay straight.

LOL ya I was a little shocked when they started showing up here to cut and rethread in the same 7/16. Glad they started doing that though, I take advantage of their adapters they make for weird stuff I get in here where that 7/16 makes sense to do. Saves me time from having to make them.

I have several Morgan has done for me in 1/2 x 28 on 270 Win, 7x57 Mauser, 243, 308, all with light barrels. They have been used and abused quite a bit, no problems on any of them. Some of those I have run direct thread, some with QD muzzle devices. I have a 30-06 featherweight going to Jon Beanland for a rebarrel here real soon, it will get threaded 1/2 x 28 as well. It will probably end up with a QD brake and not direct thread, but that is a really light barrel on it. Second to the lightest Shilen makes, I don't remember what contour that is.
I have rune either a Harvester or one of my Omegas on all the above.
