Called with baby pig distress and had this guy come in but hang up in tree line. It didn’t move so I turned volume down, and then once quiet I switched the caller to a squeaker and this guy started moving toward us. It looked like a cat by body and head and moved like a cat in the squatty stalking way cats move and not like a dog. I told my brother it was a cat, and being the novice hunter he is said he didn’t want to shoot a house cat, so I told him to watch for a tail and to my surprise when it moved again it had a long tail...I said let me spot light it and see what it was, expecting to see a house/barn cat but again got surprised. He made a good (mostly lucky) shot through trees and a fence to hit it and drop it. This is what we saw when we got there: It was super cold the night before and was getting cold the night we shot it. I am sure it was going to die minus our shot, but I think we eased from it’s last bit of suffering.
