Postoak, really for most hunting applications it a hundred feet per second difference doesn't make much difference. Most deer are shot inside 200 yards with most inside 150 and at those shorter ranges 100fs difference shot to shot will still be in the vitals of a deer.
Just like BC isn't that big a deal for those shots either, a round nose 30-30 is still good to 200 yards easy. Totally agree. My main concern is the heat, not the cold. If I work up a load in winter, I'd like to know its safe in summer. I don't think I've taken a shot at game over 200 yards the last 5 years.

I don't see why, given a choice, anyone would choose a powder that is sensitive to temp. The IMR link I posted is their new Enduron line which appears to be their version of Hodgdon Extreme which is very temp stable. Hodgdon purchased IMR a while back.

Oh and I started this post for Scottfromdallas as he is such a fanboy for the Creedmoor....  LMAO. I just saw this. Yes, it's maddening to someone who has been using a 6.5x55 for years but I've come to realize the Creedmoor is here to stay. It has the firearm and ammunition industry behind it and people are discovering the greatness of a 140 grain 6.5 bullet at 2700 fps. Now I know how 30-06 people felt when the 308 came out or 7x57 people felt when the 7-08 came out. I'm over my hate except for the fact that I can't buy H4350 anymore.
