Hey y'all, hope everyone is doing well and having a great season. I've been fortunate enough to get a nice axis doe and today got a big bodied 8 point (who darn near gave me a heart attack, I thought I got a perfect shot but he ran like crazy! As my heart sunk thinking "how the heck did I miss that?!" I saw him start to circle about 30 yards away. He went down and stayed down thank goodness. He had some vigor in him!) I also got a whitetail doe (hit her with a Barnes triple shock from my new 308 the old man and his dad surprised me with!) and recovered this almost perfectly mushroomed bullet. Thought it was neat.

Pretty good season so far I’d say. Congrats.
How is the cooler holding up?

How is the cooler holding up? Yessir, I am feeling very blessed this season especially since I haven't had much time at all to get out and sit. They've been showing up for me- can't resist that alfalfa! The cooler is still in amazing shape and we use it all the time! I am pretty funny about it (I won't let anyone sit a drink on top of it, haha) and folks who come over always compliment it! Thanks again, man. It's one of my absolute favorite possessions, great craftsmanship and great memories.

You recovered a Barnes? That’s not easy to do. Pretty cool.

Thanks y'all! My father in law loads the rounds for me and they just wallop whatever they hit. The only reason I recovered that one was because I had to take a quartering to shot. Came thru the lower neck, and it rode down into a back leg (which it shattered the bone.). Found it just under the skin and thought it was a tumor on her until I felt the shape. It was fun to retrieve it while skinning! Definitely lost some meat off that doe, though

I suspected it was a full length kind of shot to pull that off.

Good job, Gimmeabuck. Good size on the WT. Is that In Bandera?

Awesome, looks like plenty of venison for a while. Congrats Any more signs of that mountain lion?

Thanks y'all! I agree about the axis, soft and buttery. Nothing quite as good! Haven't seen any sign of the mountain lion again, unfortunately but truth be told I haven't put much time in. I fee like if someone had shot it, it probably would have made the local paper or we'd have heard through the grapevine... So fingers crossed its still out there waiting on me
