In the stand for the night and am trying my Big Buddy hooked up to a propane tank vs the green bottles. I also did this maybe 4-5 years ago on a campout, so I know it will work with external propane.

Works fine on the small bottles, worked briefly ( 5 seconds or so) tonight then went out. Haven't used this propane tank before. I've tried it with and without that spin on filter the external line goes to.

I can get a regular looking pilot going, but when I turn it on low, I can hear a very slight squeal, pilot gets smaller, but main heat doesn't come on. If I try going to high, pilot will then go out.

Ideas?

There is a silver regulator that goes from propane tank to Mr Heater.

It should be about the only thing on the hose

Larger tank may be cold enough to reduce pressure. Use the small tanks long enough to the big jug warmed up, that will increase the pressure.

Well, whatever it was seems to have worked itself out. Ran it with a bottle again for 10 min or so, Tried it first without the filter(I guess it's also a regulator), works, put the filter on still works. I'm hot! smile

Just need some participants tonight....

Thanks!
