First off let me say I wasn't expecting what we experienced. WOW! Canned hunts were never supposed to be this good. The birds flew as near as wild as I have ever seen. I have put out plenty of pen raised quail field trialing and never saw any like these.

My brother, nephew, son and myself arrived at 8:30. Joe Enderby met us at the gate and was a very congenial host. He had me a UTV there to ride behind the dogs and guide because I can't walk like I used to.... too fat and old. Bad Knees and Bad back to boot. The guide was was a very experienced dog man name Mr. Tip Davis. I knew I knew that name and come to find out he knew most all the Horseback Shooting dog trainers and NBHA trialers I knew. He has judged many many trials himself and worked dogs with all the greats of years gone by both current ones winning on the circuit and retired. He had some cracker jack dogs. Absolutely a great guy to spend the day with.

Buster had never seen a pheasant or chukar before and he had no problem with the chukar and quail retrieves. He never did find a handle on the pheasants though. Tip had me send Buster in to flush and get him some work. By the time we were done Buster figured out to go in front of the pointers and Wirehairs to flush. At first he was a little unsure of whether to go there. But at the end he was getting it done Perfectly. He'd go in the briers and chase those birds out and put them in the air and stay hot on their tails until they hit the dirt. He finally learned he wasn't going to catch our misses. These birds were that wild. I was very pleased to say the least.

We missed quite a few birds as I was trying to hold off of them a little. I had forgot to bring my chokes and was shooting a modified choke all day. My brother and nephew had never seen a pheasant before and they came out and went straight up and flew like kamikaze pilots. Took a little getting on them. My son was a crack shot. He shoots a lot.

After the hunt we were served a great meal including turkey chili. YUM! Along with any type of cold beer you could want. We never counted the birds but ended with plenty each.

The hunt was $250 for a half day and then you tip your guide. You can buy a membership that gets you 10 hunts and you can take people with you to hunt but each person counts as one of your hunts. It is an annual membership. I am thinking seriously about doing that because it is 25 miles from the house. I like that place so much I'm thinking about joining. That would make the hunts $210 a piece. Saves you $40 a hunt.

It sure was good to hear those flushing wings.... not a covey rise but we had several flushes that would have 3 birds get up and go all different directions.

If you want to try it out give Joe Enderby a call at 972-816-0427. Visit his website at www.TexasBirdHunt.com Tell him you heard about it from me Bobby Barnett. I promise you will not be disappointed. I'll be back that is for sure. Thanks Joe and Tip!

Here's some pictures. Enjoy!

Greatness. The price is right.

Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

Its been 6, or 7 years since I've been there.
Just like you, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Dang Bobby, bet your pup enjoyed it just as much as you did. I just might have to try it.

Chet it was a good time. I bet you know Tip Davis. He was excellent.

Kirk, Buster had a blast. I will be going back for sure. Give it a try if you want to work Judee. She get lots of work. Well worth the work plus you get birds and a great lunch. It's about a mile from Chris Waters new home.

Looks like you guys had a great time. Buster kind of has that "all business" type look in the picture.

I also agree with your review regarding Joe and his staff - top notch.

I forgot to mention he got his first water retrieve on a stick I threw. I was expecting him to splash around but he swam flat-backed and never made a splash while swimming like he had been doing it for years.

One of my hunting buddies guides there occasionally. He has nothing but good things to say about the operation and the quality of their birds.

We all need to practice Whoa more.

We have some of our NSTRA Lonestar Region trials there. Beautiful place with great fields. The houses and kitchen areas are great as well, really enjoy going out there.

I was looking for a hunt like this for a Christmas present for my Son-in-law, Grandson and myself. After reading this post and a little research decided Prairies End was the place. We went out yesterday with them, WOW, they were great. Joe has a very nice place to hunt and cares that you have a good time. The guide Tip was awesome, he made sure my 9 yr old Grandson was in the right place to get a shots this allowed him to bag 2 pheasants a quail and Chucker. After the hunt both my Grandson and Son-In-Law said we no longer Dove hunt we only hunt here.
We are looking forward to hunting here again.
