not much there really. been a while since ive been in the area but remember a decent mexican place across from tractor supply on the loop. also a good steak house in down town, other than that I cant recall anything hardly worth eating there.

Switch Pizza is a killer place that I've taken numerous out of towners from Houston & Dallas to in the 18 months we've lived here. It is a gotta see and try place on Royall 1/2 block north of the Loop on the west side of the street & UPHILL to the parking area. Ever changing selection of craft beer & wine and the hand made California style pizza are show stoppers...and both of my sons are veterans of the Fine Dining wars in North Dallas & Addison The eating places in the Hollow downtown are back in business from last years wipeout floods and the Pie Shop in the antique store on the north side across from P&B has been written up several times as the Best Pie in Texas by Texas Hwys.
Downtown has 2 places that are nationally famous, the upscale restuerant on top of the 4 story hotel down town and a +100 year old German Bakery called Eilenberger's across the street from the Police Station for breakfast and Lunches is also a must see...and a block or so from the Hollow's Pint & Barrel etc around the corner.
I like Little Mexico a block east of the Loop at Hwy 79/84 corner much better than El Toro's... come early or late as the large parking area is frequently FULL at mid day.
There is also a Fine Dining winery and B&B out north on Link that we've not been to yet but hear good things about. From the Hwy 19 corner at the Civic Center & Loop, go east 2 stop lights to Link Ave at the 2nd Stop light (before you get to the Hwy 155 exit) - look for the brown Davey Dogwood Park signage just past the Jackson St 1st stop light by the water tower, and go north on Link about 4 miles and look for the signage on the right to turn off past the City Limit sign.
Most of the chain eateries & chain hotels are on the Loop south of the Hwy 79/84 corner, starting with Pizza Hut on the west and a fun DIY yogurt place called the ?Green Frog across the parking lot north of the Cotton Patch-Whataburger parking area, across from the High School in a strip Center, with easy North South downtown access from the Hwy 19 - Crockett St. corner.
Lots more eateries in Palestine than I ever thought would be here when we moved down from Lake Texoma 18 months ago. Ron
It is TIME for Term Limits, cause Politicians are like childrens diapers and for the same reasons...Robin Williams "These are the times that try men's soul's"...Thomas Paine
