whoever thinks you could just go shoot a doe for super cheap is just not realistic. would any of you have a stranger come out... provide a guide, or trust them to sit out on your land and not shoot something they shouldn't for $75?

yeah right.

No doubt In these types of threads, it's easy to ascertain who does & who doesn't own land.

This. In spades.

In a week I'll be headed to a ranch in the panhandle with 7 guys. We've been going for about 5yrs with the same group of guys to the same place. They charge us 250.00 each to hunt Friday, Saturday, and then Sunday morning if we want to. We are allowed to shoot 3 does. It's strictly a doe hunt. And, we generally do very well. Most years I kill my three. The landowner provides the stands and feeders. He has buck hunters, and charges them 1500.00 per buck. No lodging. No guides. The landowner just organizes us as to who is going to which stand, and we use our own trucks.

I used to hunt leases in East Texas for 6-800 per year. There's no way I'd pay 3-500 per doe. With kids in college big dollar leases, or day hunts just aren't in my budget. I'd sure love to be on a great hill country lease, or west Texas lease with big bucks and lots of deer. Not in my budget. So, I'm a happy camper going on this meat hunt with my buddies. Plus, I hunt public ground. I don't see as many animals, but it's a ton less expensive. And, it's very rewarding when I do score on public ground.

Thanks,

Marty
