Yeah, I've gotta hear this.

If your eyes blurred from the cold like mine I guess you could get a pair of goggles or slow the boat...which is already going pretty slow. And CLEAR goggles.

Maybe a scarf to go with it?? grin

My eyes don't water in the cold as bad as most. I have one buddy that ALWAYS gets snot running out his nose if we're running in temps under 40 degrees. sick

He also keeps goggles handy for when we take his boat, which isn't often now unless the weather is really bad.

I did buy one of these a few years ago for the boat ride on really cold days.

Ive tried closing the eyes quickly to get rid of the blur and liquid but I decided at that moment is when a stump would magically appear....better to wear a pair of goggles and see 100%. I got that tip off U tube from a duck guide. Most places want to sell you a fancy dark glass for skiing...no beuno. Keep looking until you find the clear goggles.

You're talking about goggles for driving a boat, got it. That wasn't clear at all in your original post. up

I have something with me that goes on every hunt. A memory of how duck hunting used to be. #5 and #6 2 3/4 inch pellets, 105 point system and pintails out the hinder at 10 points a piece. We always hoped for the 9 pintails first and a canvasback for the 10th bird. I remember cutting my teeth on duck hunting at the coast. The days when the guy across the pond, whom you never met, saw you working birds wouldn't dream of firing a shot and vice versa. Reminds me of the old Bellamy Brothers song "He's an old hippie and he just don't know what to do".

That’s insane. We have limited on pintails last 4 hunts. 3,2,2 and 1. Of course the limit went to one this year. Normally don’t see any until mid January and we have been covered up in them

Rusky Hat

I have one of those, I got it in 1963, that hat is the best and warmest hat I have ever worn. 3 years of duck and goose hunting in North Dakota made me a believer in those hats.

I never dreamed there would be a 1 bird limit on the pintails. We hunted south of I-10 off of Pin Oak road. We used hay bales for blinds and sat on 5 gallon buckets. Typically we would have three buckets full of ducks on the way out. My dad didn't allow us to breast them so we would have to pluck 30 birds before we could go home. There are houses in that rice field now. I remember lead #5 at 30 yards would just slam the ducks out of that old A-5.
