I was looking up reviews of the best deer calls for 2017 and one site had the Primo’s Speak Easy Deer electronic call listed. So I started wondering if they were even legal to use here in Texas. So the TPWD Regulations say this.

RESTRICED METHODS

Remote-controlled Hunting
A person may not engage in computer-assisted remote hunting of any animal or bird or provide or operate facilities for computer-assisted remote hunting if the animal or bird being hunted is located in Texas.

Then it says this under

LEGAL METHODS

Calling devices (including manual and mouth-operated), recordings, and electrically amplified calls may be used to hunt game animals and game birds, except electronic calls may not be used to hunt migratory game birds, unless allowed by special regulation.

So I like to follow the rules and was wondering if the Primo’s Speak Easy deer call with remote falls under legal or illegal to use in Texas.

Seems like it would be cool to use with my decoy if it is legal to use. I also haven’t even looked it up on YouTube or read reviews on it yet so I don’t even know if the thing sounds good or is just another gimmick to waste money on. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks everybody.

It's legal, the first thing you listed is shooting a deer via computer with a remote controlled gun. (I know that sounds stupid but someone was doing that a while back)

Yes. You may use your electronic call and decoy in Texas.
The remote controlled language was added to restricted means by TPWD a few years back, about the time cellular game cams came along. Some yahoos figured it would be cool to mount a rifle in a fixed position, pointed at a feeder, with live video feed. "Hunters" could watch for a fee and kill whatever was in front of the camera for another fee. I think robotics to point and aim the rifle entered the equation before the gubment finally shut that nonsense down.

I read the reviews of the Primo’s electronic call system and it got horrible reviews lol. Then I remembered that I have an ICOTEC GC350 programmable Electronic Caller that I got for Christmas a couple of years ago. I get a lot of stuff for hunting and fishing during the holidays and a lot of it gets put in the closet till I can get my back surgery done. So I tend to forget what I have lol. I think I remember that you can incorporate other calls that are not ICOTEC’S and recordings of real animals in to it, so I am going to figure it out and ask the predator hunting crew on here how to do that. Thanks again everybody.

To add, though recorded/electronic calls are legal for non migratory game animals, many if not most public lands rules do not allow it.

Thank you for the link. I remember when they had something on the news about people being able to pay big money to sit at home, shoot an animal and then have it delivered all processed to their home or something like that. They were trying to make it sound legit by saying that it was for handicapped people who can not get out to hunt. But you know it would just open the door for people to pay big money to shoot something from their computers and get lazy about it in the end. I am glad that they stopped it. Imagine something like that getting hacked in to or someone using a software and set up like that to start picking people off. Sounds crazy but hackers were able to turn on people’s laptop cameras and start taking video and pics of women changing in the past and then selling them to porn sites. Crazy days we’re living in.

I don’t want to sound like I go out and buy everything that hits the shelves for outdoor products here lol. I have been waiting to get a corrective back surgery done and since I love the outdoors so much, I always get hunting and fishing stuff for my birthday and Christmas. So since I can only get out hunting, thanks to my friend and his father helping me by doing any heavy lifting for me on their land if I get anything, I usually just put stuff in my closet that I get for outdoors stuff until I can get this surgery over and done with. So I tend to forget about what I have lol. I totally forgot that my buddy gave me the iCOTEC gc350 programmable electronic calling set up for Christmas after he upgraded to the 500 model lol. Since Spot and stalk is out of the question for me this year, I need every thing I can do to bring the deer to me since they have been not hitting the feeders and eating acorns for awhile now. I was finally told that my surgery will be some time within the next two weeks so I need to get some meat in the freezer before then. I am hoping to make it back out by the middle of muzzleloader season and fill a Doe tag. I always give some deer meat to my retired neighbor and then my dogs look forward to venison steak tips each year after doing some nose work and upland bird training lol. Plus I love venison! Thanks again everybody and have a great season!
