I have a 4x4 stand, and a 4x6 blind. I was thinking about getting a sheet of 3/4 treated plywood, and setting the blind on top of that, then bolting everything together. Basically I'll have 1 foot of blind hanging over the edge of the metal frame, but it will be on top of the plywood.

curious if anyone has every done that. I'd hate to be sitting on one side of the blind and it tip over with my fat [censored] inside!

I would not rely on just the plywood to hold it up, but yes we have put 4x6 blinds on 4x4 stands. Run some other type of lumber or support under the plywood like 2x4 etc.

Yes, a stronger layer under the blind would be preferred over the plywood. The plywood will potentially get wet, and start to sag or rot, and then your support will be gone.

Would trust a 2x4 or 2x6 a lot more than a sheet of plywood.

I’d put runners under it or a 4x4 under each side with a 2x4 T’d at the top depending on how fat you are. I like a stable blind.

Make sure you anchor the stand down so it can’t fall over. Lots of different options.

maybe just run something like three 2x12's then? I'm pretty lazy and hate carpentry in general

A 4x6 base will overhang 12" each side, if you center on the 4x4 base. Several 2x4 on edge 12" on center 6' long with a sheet of 3/4" plywood on top screwed to the 2x4 should be sufficient. I would use pressure treated wood. If you make everything just a couple of inches short the weather would not get to the wood.

I have two stands that are just what you describe. I have a piece of 3/4 treated plywood only. Works great. My box is anchored firmly to the stand through the plywood and stand is firmly anchored to the ground.

Secede!!

This would be my choice.
