I know it isn't what you are asking for - but please consider a rescue? We have had GSD's in our life for most of the last 30 years. I love them with a passion. When we had to put our girl Zena to sleep it happened to coincide with a monthly adoption meeting with this group. GSD's don't fully mature until 2 years so in a sense the wonderful overgrown baby we got from them is still a puppy smile

At least rescues usually come socialized, housebroken and crate trained from their foster home.

They do. They are rescue dogs and spend a good deal of time with the foster families. One 30lb bag of high quality dog good runs around $50-70 and lasts about a week for two GSD's - fosters usually have more than 2. They also have to cover all medical costs. I adopted my boy heartworm positive on doxycycline a "soft" method of getting rid of the worms. It works but takes several months to kill/clear out the parasites. They provided the pills to me at no charge until he was clear of them.
