The first split was absolute garbage. 10 hunts and 8 skunks. Scouted for hours each week on public without seeing a single bird. Most hunts I didn't even fire a shot. We need some colder weather. I know centex sucks, but damn. This first split was pretty bad even for centex standards.

I set up Saturday in what I thought would be a great spot after some scouting. Not on big water but on a slough (is that a word?) and 10 mins before LST hits and sounds like WW3....and I saw exactly zero ducks....zero. Me and my hunting partner moved closer to the big water...still not one duck. After the 10 before LST there were maybe 3 more shots all morning.

That's the daily occurrence on the lake I hunt. It's ridiculous.

We had a higher than average first split in NETex. very excited for the 2nd half of the season. Especially with the cold weather that is taking place next week in the northern states
