Never even thought about this before, but my issues with the action screws got me to thinking about alternatives, and I realize I have no idea how it all works. 3 questions:

- If I found a take-off trigger guard/bottom metal from a CTR, would it fit on my Varmint model and would my Varmint mag work with it?
- What are the best/cheapest stock upgrade options (chassis or otherwise) for a T3x Varmint?
- More importantly, what would I have to do to have a working magazine system and how much would that cost?

KRG XRay comes ready to go for any AICS mag from factory. I really like mine, really adjustable and fits me perfect. Decently light compared to some of the other chassis out there.

For my 6.5 CTR, is the CTR mag a proprietary mag or is it AICS-compatible? For my Varmint, do they have AICS mags for 223?

The CTR factory mag is a Sako TRG 22 and not compatible with AICS.

McMillan has some, I am having one made..
They are offering some new options for Tikkas that haven't hit the website

I am getting one of these in carbon, setup for the CTR bottom metal.
I have a Mountain Tactical DBM that takes AI mags that I have verified works on the T3x CTR I have.

if you want to get more info, contact this guy

Tell him I sent you please.

If you want to keep the factory stock, take it off and send it to CDI. They have a Tikka compatible DBM that takes AI mags, and if I’m not mistaken they’ll inlet your stock to fit their DBM for free if you buy one.

Stupid question:

Looks like McMillan has stocks that can be inlet however you want or they have ones that can use the factory plastic/metal? I assume if I was interested in one that has yet to be inlet and I wanted to use AI mags, then I'm looking at $500+ for the stock plus $200 to CDI and another $90 for a mag? So the one that uses the factory setup would be much cheaper.

If I get one that uses the factory bottom plastic/metal, will it work with the Varmint bottom plastic and Varmint plastic DBM? Seems obvious that if I put my CTR in one, it could use the factory bottom metal and CTR mag. But it does look like they have separate models for CTR bottom metal vs the non-CTR, so I'm still confused...

No one is being funny, just answering your questions.

Yes, inlet, bottom metal and mag costs what it costs. And I knew you would figure that out.

CTR bottom metal, and mag, has plenty of value as well.

Thanks for all the help. I think I understand the options a bit.

McMillan has A3 stocks in inventory for the CTR and non-CTR on sale at reasonable prices, as long as you don't mind a pretty limited selection in colors.

Is the A3 a decent stock?

What's the difference in an A3 and A3 sporter?
