Yep, clearly marketing gimmicks. After six years on an archery only deer lease I've learned a thing or two. You don't loose animals with giant holes in them. The hardest tracks are high lung shots with small fixed broadheads.

I'm not a fan of fixed heads..they work but you can do better in my opinion. For 7 years I shot 60 to 111 deer and pigs per year..mostly pigs obviously. It was for management and I got to try every kind of head they make. You can't beat a good expandable if you have the KE to push it. If you don't then yes stick to simple old school fixed heads. I miss 2in hammerheads they were the best I'd found. I'm still looking for the best penetrating expandable. So far muzzy tro kars seem to be best. Still searching. The Rage ate that doe up. I'll have to shoot a boar next.

Big pigs get fixed blades.

Smaller pigs and deer get expandables.

This seems to work best for me as I don't shoot a hyper fast bow.

I have 2-2" cut mechanicals for deer in my quiver. And I have 3-Nap Hellrazors or Montecs for hogs. You cant destroy those three sided fixed heads. I have several that have probably been through a dozen hogs. I just cant see a reason not to use the large mechanicals on deer. I want everything in my favor to insure I recover my shot deer.
