But it’ll be colder than it’s been in a while. Will birds be moving?

It's not the wind that makes them move but it is the wind that makes them easier to predict and makes your spread look better.

I try to blind better from overhead with no wind. Ducks seem to make more circles over me.

Also easier to hide with wind, your movements are less noticeable with wind when things are blowing around.

Fixed...

No wind, water smooth as glass, minimal/moderate spread of modeeks, if there’s birds, come before first light, they’re going to feel the need to move.

Granted, glassy water poses several unique problems, but for the most part, easily remediated. Unless of course, you’re short a few key data points. Easily remeditiated, not so easily when hunting with mixed groups most of whom have own opinions and way of do thing.

Not thtI won’t change a specific MO when One of rare occasions arises when the lightbulb goes off.

Dude, you hunting regular season or falconry?

Most humans can see a slight, almost imperceptible 60hz flicker in fluorescent lightings in modearate light, the max for human eyes. Ducks have a retinal refresh rate estimated at 180+/- p/sec, possibly as high as 250+. A recent Naval research study that was funding avian visual acuity, particularly that of waterfowl, abruptly classified the reseach when the researchers discovered additional visual capabilities never before seen in any animal.

To put it succinctly, they have Visual capabilities similar to that of Raptors, albeit without thre benefit of binocular vision. But the deficit is minimal (and negligible), and mitigated by swiveling their heads left to right wile flying. given their field of view is 360 degrees allowing then to see any object regardless.

I didn't see where anyone said anything about a jerk cord. My point is simply no wind, your movements are more detectable.

But on the jerk cord, I hate them, who wants to mess with that. I use a pulsator.

Maybe-sunny and no wind can be great

Shrink them spreads add motion. I will take Wrong wind-make adjustments- ie shoot going away birds, rather than no wind at all.

Really depends on size of water your hunting.

Look at the bright side.... no wind is perfect to be able to locate exactly where others are shooting more then you so you can hunt their successful spot another day and call it scouting. grin

You forgot amateur philosopher. I'm going with lettered in trivia pursuit. I don't argue much so debate is out. Only thing I ever majored in was girls and hunting. Both turned out to be expensive.
