I know I'm not the first....

I watch this evening a 150 class walk my fence line...on my neighbors property

I've met them once, didn't seem like the type to allow me taking him

I have their number and trust me, almost called.

I was sure the answer was no

A true low fence trophy 5 feet off my property

It happens around 5pm today and I am still wound up!

Watched the 10 pt I shot this year blow past my feeder and head to the neighbors property on a Saturday night. Figured he was gone for good. Next morning he showed back up to take a shot to take a dirt nap. Never know, I'd hunt there tomorrow.

You can bet he has a place on the fence that he prefers to cross for its ease of effort. If he's bedding on the adjacent property and coming onto your place to eat, put a stand up and hunt it in the evenings to catch him when he's headed to the dinner table. Morning hunts will carry less potential because he'll most likely have already gone back across the fence and found his bed before morning daylight. This will also increase you chances at getting him while there is still light as older bucks know to hit feeders in the dark this well into the season. You want to catch him about a half hour or so before dark.

That could work but doesn't guarantee he won't run onto the adjacent property. It could also change his travel habits and give hm another place to eat after dark. If you catch crossing the fence when he's headed to your dinner table, you can shoot him when he's almost certain to continue away from the fence after the shot.

surely, if you shoot him on your side of the fence, your neighbor would let you cross the fence to retrieve him?

Oh, I am throwing corn.

My wife has saw him twice! I don't have this deer on camera.

She told me there's this deer that's bigger than the others. probably the biggest I have seen around here...

Honestly, my gut told me yeah right. She doesn't know, but she by golly did!

I do have some nice ones and he dwarfs them.

I am 99 percent sure he stays on a different property that also adjoins mine.

It's a few acres that he lives in or calls home.

I think he was after a doe this evening

Just a beautiful deer, 150's low fence just don't grow on trees.

I was luck to see him and thankful

My son and I watched a 10 pointer last year at 75 yards on our side of the fence.

Standing perfectly broadside, I wouldnt let him take the shot.

I explained that if he missed or if bullet went straight through it would cross property line.

He was disappointed but understood.

Got plenty of pictures but never saw him again.

I almost think I will have to call the Game Warden should that happen.

They kinda owe me a favor, so that's gonna be my ace in the hole.

I helped them once with cattle they own and never asked for anything.

I really don't know

The downside of hunting near the fence lines, if you shoot him on your side and he crosses to neighbors property. Then yes you call the game warden and he maybe help ask if it's ok for you to retrieve the deer but the neighbor could just deny the request.
Good luck on the deer, he will most likely travel on your property somewhere as well.

See if you can pin point similarities on those occasions and start piecing the puzzle together.

The 2 times she saw him was between 830-9am

This the first evening sighting I know of.

And why do you think that's so? It's probably because he doesn't suddenly see corn on the ground or other sign that makes him cautious.

Short of rutting activity, a mature buck's life consist of eating, sleeping, and drinking. Pretty simple if you want to get a shot at one. Find a setup between the places where they eat, sleep, or drink and leave no sign or smell that you've been there. Otherwise, focus on the doe and lesser bucks who have yet to earn their wariness. They never get old being stupid.

Why is your feeder there? Our neighbor did the same thing who happens to be an awesome member here and great guy. I posted a pic of it and he got word and moved it. His daughter bagged a giant this year.

That is my fenceline behind that feeder. This is different location.

We saw the deer from a different stand about 400 yards from here.

I just got this picture on trailcam when he was leaving this wheat field.

My stand is 75 yards east of west fenceline and feeder is southeast of that stand location.

If he went to feeder he would have been dead.

But now all those trees are gone and I have a grassfield so there are no stands anymore. Landowner really screwed me. Did it at last minute too when I had no time to find a better option. Finally saw some really good deer last year then he tur ed entire place into CRP.

Well this instance is what it's all about!! The hunt is on. You just have to hunt and you'll catch him. Play your cards right and don't push him out. I'm excited to here if you get him. Then you'll be a little sad cause the hunt is over. Makes you appreciate it all. Best of luck

Take your grunt call to the blind with you. You would be surprised how quickly he'd jump that fence for a fight.

And I made the mistake of not having my hunting bag with me yesterday.

I told my wife last night that deer probably would have came in w a grunt.

I've got it with me today though.

if your neighbors are not hunters, be patient, you might get lucky, if you do anything to disrupt his habits, you might not ever see him.

Best way to avoid this type of frustration altogether is not hunt where you can see into neighboring places. Also makes for better relationships.

Thank you...thank you very much
