Maybe a true sportsman like yourself is against some good old water swatting but I for one am not sir!

Lol

Nobody that shoots a deer under a feeder with a rifle gets to talk about skillet shooting. #fact

Some duck hunters frown upon it, but it is not illegal, as has been stated. It's not nearly as divisive as high fence/low fence, but there are some that think it is unsporting. Others disagree. A lot of times, they get up off the water as soon as the hunter moves to shoot, anyway.

If i have done everything right to get the duck to actually think the decoys are real ducks and land in the spread, it is a dead duck. I simply don't shoot till the ducks flare (if they are well within range) or till they are on the water. That way they are the closest to me and i won't wound as many or educate ducks by shooting long shots and miss.

Did you shoot a Custom Water Swat Reload from Dallas?

It's all about the dog anyways. Nice job, training pays off.

Thanks guys,

Honestly I would rather shoot them out of the sky but I was holding my phone and that really would have been hard. I kind of thought it might jump up off the water when raised my gun but it didn't so there you have it.

Really pleased with Kimber overall except dropping the birds and not wanting to heel up in those broom weeds. I thought about hadleing her off that dead duck to the cripple but there wasn't anywhere for it to really go.

She was pretty much steady (didn't break but just moved around a little) and besides the heavy breathing from the first retrieve she was quiet.

She'll be two on the 21st

Oh and yes I made sure to put in the water swatt round and choke...

Agreed.....steel shot isn't cheap either.

Get back in the rifle section Chad!

Was that a one-hand-filming one-hand-shooting technique?

I was at the slough was bright hot sunny day, and not a bird in the sky, I spotted a nice pintail all by himself out like a million yards, I lobbed in #2s holding quite high over his head, yep,....I got him.

And no, I didn't feel guilty,.................................

Thanks for sharing. The most enjoyable hunts I've ever done were with my dog AJ (named after the bar we hung out in) back home in La. while I was in school. Nothing better than hunting with a great dog you've trained. up

When I was a kid growing up in South Dakota, (mid 1950's), my grandfather refused to shoot at a pheasant unless it jumped up, as it was non-sporting, but by the mid-60s birds were instinctively scared of any man, so often them running through a cornfield zig zagging between stalks was the only shot you would get.
