I know deer eat alfalfa up north. You don’t hear much about it down here. It may not grow as much due to it being hot and dry I guess. If I buy a bale of alfalfa and put it out do y’all think deer will eat it?

Iv tried it plenty of times... pellets about the only thing they will thing about eating but i had to mix it with protein..

Unless it was a very cold dry year with no browse or other food sources the bale will sit and rot

It can be grown if you can irrigate it a lot.

It works for me, just did it last Thursday and they started hitting it immediately up

It has to be fresh and real green or they will pass on it.

Yes works great but use it late in the season when the browse is dried up for best results. They will also bed up in it. I used to have a lease in Sonora and we would spread it out under a big oak Mott. Come morning the would be a few deer bedded there. Kinda cool

Every bale I ever put out sat and rotted. They eat the heck out of my protein pellets though.

They hammer it in Edwards county (the leafy portion anyway, they leave the stems to
rot).
