On my lease I have an area that is best described as a "plateau" with spotty scrub oak and scattered Yaupon along with native grasses.
Its about 75 ac in size and rises up from a creek on the west where some deer travel. There is a ravine running west to east that funnels some deer from a bedding area to the east. I have seen, what I believe to be a good buck 2 years in a row, coming out of the ravine at dark.Never see him except at last light or later. Don't have a permanent blind up there, but have hunted pop ups several times. Tried just sitting under a tree camo'ed up, but got busted last Saturday night right at "too dark to see clearly thru scope". He didn't know what I was, but didn't like it and moved off. I was unable to get a good look at rack, so I didn't take the shot. I walk in over 600 yards to the site and play the wind. Think its just a matter of catching him being a little early (more light) A permanent tower stand would be awesome, but I don't know how we could move one in. Access to this area is tough, if not impossible by vehicle.

Our entire lease was inaccessible by vehicle except the main road when it rained. Hunted that lease for 20 years and rain never stopped us. Drag em, throw it on your shoulders, wheel barrow etc. it was more work but it got them out.

It's hell eatin em live
