Nothing against a .270 or.257 but it will be neither. Leaning towards 6x284

The 6x284 is a good round, I had one on a heavy barreled short action Ruger 77 years ago. Not a fast twist, a rechambered 243. It shot just fine until the throat got too long to reach. Your starting with a long action though and the 6x284 may not feed very well in it. I had a hard time beating 3100 fps with 100 grain bullets in it but all we had back then was H4831 and IMR 4350.
