Firstly, welcome to the 2017-18 season! It's finally here. Now on to business
We went out to public land this morning and I know everyone was nervous about something changing, but I'm glad to inform everyone that nothing has changed so you can rest easy. I scouted a LOAD of birds so we got to the lake at 10 pm Friday night to be extra sure we got it. We were the second boat there. We got to our spot and took our time setting up, building a quick little blind, etc. THEN... here they come. Steady trickle of boat after boat right up until the last goober that roles in about 20 minutes before LST. Luckily everyone seemed to favor the far bank away from us so we didn't have much competition, but I watched boats set up about 100 yards apart the whole way down that bank. 9 boats total. Needless to say I'm glad we weren't on that bank.
Sadly, the South wind changed a lot and we didn't have near the shoot we expected, but we managed a 2 man limit for 3 guys. Us and a group that set up behind us did most the shooting in that cove so we were in the right place comparatively. Everything we saw was cutting the clouds, nothing willing to fly very low.
