I've been sitting in the hospital 4 days with my wife having complications from a surgery. So I missed this one. It's why I have been posting instead of hunting. My dog hates me right now. But I do hope some birds moved down giving y'all some good hunts this morning.

Did well on public. One short of a limit. Had a ton of fun with my son. That's more important than one last duck.

Had a very weird and unfortunate opener on public today. Birds were there. So we're the buttheads that don't care about other people or hunting, just shooting and playing grabass with their buddies.

Oh, and a complete lack of common sense, like moving your trucks and tents away from the area or turning your 8 billion lumin lightbar off until after legal shooting time and making repeated trips back to the boat ramp to pick up your buddies until five minutes before legal shooting time.

Just disgraceful behavior.

Plenty of birds, just hunters screwing each other over.

Got 14 with 3 people this morning on public. All blue wings. Should have gotten limit.

If the trigger is gold, the birds will fold.

Saw plenty of birds and got a lot of looks. We struggled with our cover and placement. I decided to hunt the wind instead of the x. The wind didn't come in as predicted so they went to the x. Moved to the x and the wind came in. Still got a lot of lookers. Greys, teal and a few mallards. No one else was in our area so at least I guessed right on that. Left with one hen gadwall.

.

Anytime the forecast says clouds and less than 10mph Wind, we get nervous. Hunting X vs wind (or lack of) early season would be call we make. Will post results tomorrow

Prayers for full recovery. The birds will be there when you are able to go.

Lots of birds around. Should be a good first split. I’m hoping to get out a few more times before turkey day.
