I read this article years ago. It was written very well and almost has a haunting vibe to it. It goes into details of some guys shooting EXTREME groups in a warehouse. Great read, Clint, thanks. By taking human error out of the equation (except 1 finger on a 1/4 oz. trigger) it makes you wonder what the very best shooters that shoulder and cheek the rifle would do, or the opposite...how some of our rifles would do without us? Personally, I'm not of mind or patience (or $) to find out, but interesting nonetheless.

What if we had an indoor , long range shooting range similar? How much would a guy pay to shoot by the hour?
When I was doing .22 bench rest, we shot 50yrd in an old building on I45 near Ennis. It was good, targets were lighted but the warehouse was dark and cold.
I shoot 100 yards indoors at the Frisco Gun club but they only let you shoot an hour, hell it takes me an hour to set up. Plus, you cant use a chronograph very easy. . It's dark and the targets aren't lit up very good.

Powder didn't effect accuracy from lot to lot. Didn't uniform primer pockets and did chamfered the inside of the flash hole.
Very interesting. I have in the past while deburring the flash hole put a small chamfer, but always mad me nervous to for the risk of going to deep and weakening the pocket.

I read this article a few years ago when it came out. Quite honestly, this article is the basis of info i use when determining what decision is worth the cost of reloading and its affect on accuracy.
I go back to this article from time to time.
I'm a dude who likes long barrels!

The powder charge part is kind of shocking, but it stands to reason considering how accurate some factory match ammo can be. I don't know if those rules hold true for distance shooting where speed matters.

Like not to shoot mild steel at close range and take shrapnel to the face?

What works to shoot little groups at 100y won't always work at distance. Don't get me wrong, a lot does but I'll give you two examples of something you won't see much difference in at 100y that you will at 1000y. Powder charge, I talked to good short range guy and he says you won't see a difference in your group at 100y as long as it stays within a .3 window. At long range, that doesn't work. Neck tension differences and it's relationship to SD/ES isn't a big of a deal at 100y but it will show up out around 250-300y.
Regardless, it's a cool article and those Houston warehouse guys/stories are super interesting.
